Matthew Biancaniello’s Whiskey Cocktail

Course: Beverages
Mixologist Matthew Biancaniello is as much a fixture at our local farmers market as your favorite restaurant chefs. We sat down with him to discuss whiskey and got this great recipe out of him before the end of it. If you’re thirsty for more, you can find inspiration from his new A&E show Good Spirits and hire his liquid catering services (doesn’t the idea along make you want to throw a party)?

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 1 Tbsp Water + 1 tsp
  • 2 ounces Redbreast Irish Whiskey
  • 5-6 Mint leaves
  • 3-4 Meyer Lemon slices

Instructions

  • Bring the honey and water to a simmer. Turn the heat off once the honey dissolves and let the syrup cool. You’ll only be using a 1/2 ounce of the syrup in your drink.
  • Muddle the lemon pieces and mint leaves with a muddler, mortar and pestle (or the end of a rolling pin if nothing else will do). Pour in the 1/2 ounce of syrup and whiskey and blend well.
