The Gourmandise School is a hands-on culinary school with a focus on teaching classic techniques using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. The school began with a focus on the sweeter side of life and has grown over four years to include savory courses, professional classes and fascinating food workshops. Our delicious kitchens teach adults and children alike, with three and four-hour classes, private events and corporate team building.

Hadley Hughes

Hadley is one of the co-owners and pastry chefs at The Gourmandise School.

She was born and raised in Atlanta and developed a deep love of baking from a young age. She spent most of her childhood helping out her mother in the kitchen. Once she reached high school, Haldey brought so many baked goods class, she was nicknamed "Cookie."

After studying architecture in college, Hadley worked at an architcture firm and then worked in PR, but always knew her love was baking. Hadley sought out to find the best baking teacher in LA and found Clemence. A couple months later a beautiful partnership started.

Hadley specializes in Classic American desserts, Southern cuisine and Gluten-free baking.

Christianne Winthrop

Christianne Winthrop's culinary career began in early 2009, when she left her job in commercial real estate to focus on food. Since then, she has launched her own boutique catering company, specializing in modern American cuisine with a healthy twist, and teaches in-home cooking classes to "kitchen chickens." In addition to teaching the children's cooking series at The Gourmandise School of Sweets and Savories, Christianne also teaches at The Garden School Foundation in Los Angeles and is a volunteer chef instructor for Cooking Matters, a division of Share Our Strength.

When Christianne isn't teaching or catering, she is a freelance food writer with credits in The Los Angeles Times and BrainWorld magazine. She is also a regular contributor to and CBS Local's "Best of LA" website. She tracks her own culinary successes and failures on her website:

As well as graduating with highest honors from Le Cordon Bleu’s Hollywood culinary program, Christianne holds a BA in English from UC Davis and studied playwriting at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. She currently lives in Long Beach with her husband Bob and their beta fish, Hercules.
