Spring Break and Summer Classes, Camp and Series Courses

The Gourmandise School believes that one of the most valuable life-lessons is learning about food, developing a culinary passion and how to safely move through a kitchen – the earlier the better! All of our hands-on cooking and baking classes are taught by expert professional chefs that focus on classic cooking techniques using locally sourced food whenever possible. Whether it be a Kids Class (ages 6 to 12) or a Teen Series Course (ages 12-16), each is specifically developed to immerse your kids into a culinary experience, build their confidence in the kitchen, and depending on the class, teach them about food safety, nutrition, knife skills, plating, how to fry, sear, bake, and so much more. Each culinary creation will be made completely from scratch.

During school breaks and in the summer, The Gourmandise School offers several different one-day or week-long classes or series courses that will be sure to peek your young chef’s interest! If you want your teen to acquire serious knife skills and cooking techniques, sign them up for a week-long Teen Pro Chef Series where they will Master World Cuisines or Learn to Cook in a Week.

Kids Classes are regularly offered almost every Saturday morning and weekdays during Spring Break (Kids Summer Schedule coming soon). Whether your little one wants to learn how to make Crepes, Sushi, Pastries, Cookies, Tacos, Roasted Chicken or create a Mother’s Day Brunch completely from scratch, they will no-doubt find a class at The Gourmandise School.

Located on the third floor of The Santa Monica Place Shopping Center (just down from the Arclight and across the from The Cheesecake Factory). Students must wear closed-toe shoes and should bring containers to class should there by leftovers.

Special Events and Private Parties for Kids

For an extra special experience, we recommend letting us host a private event any time you like for your kids and their buddies for birthdays, workshops, or any special occasion.  We offer a variety of fun filled party menus to choose from for kids ages 4-12.  All parties are a hands-on cooking experience where our Chef instructor and support staff are dedicated to making sure your child gets to learn to make a delicious meal and enjoy it with their friends.

Children are greeted upon arrival by our Chef and assistants and given aprons to decorate and take home.  Kids are supervised through the entire party as they enjoy cooking in a commercial kitchen with their friends and family, creating delicious dishes to enjoy with everyone!  If your kiddo is a fan of cooking shows such as Chopped or Master Chef Junior, we can customize your event to include a “secret ingredient showdown!”

Parents are welcome to bring a birthday cake and we will slice and serve it for you. We provide all plates, utensils, cups, and drinks (punch and water) for the kids. We have the kids covered, not the parents.

We can also provide Gift Bags at an additional cost to reflect the kids’ culinary experience!

At The Gourmandise School, we focus on the best techniques and use local sustainable ingredients whenever possible. Our produce is sourced twice weekly from the Santa Monica Farmers Market. Our fresh seafood comes from Santa Monica Seafood. We use sustainable poultry such as Mary’s Free Range Chicken, and get our beef from Whole Foods or other sustainable providers.
