The Gourmandise School of Sweets & Savories, touted as one of the Best Cooking Schools in Los Angeles, and pioneering organic dairy brand, Straus Family Creamery, announce a partnership in which The Gourmandise School will use Straus’ minimally processed organic dairy products in its culinary classes and showcase Straus’ ecologically-minded and organic farming practices educating students about the importance of sustainable farming.

Both Committed to Sustainable Organic Farming, Education and Supporting a Local Food System

The partnership will give the Santa Monica-based cooking school’s students an opportunity to gain awareness about organic farming practices and to cook with the highest-quality dairy ingredients, including Straus’ organic European style butter, minimally processed whipping cream and milk, as they learn new cooking techniques and develop their culinary intuition.

The Gourmandise School to host an Open House Ice Cream Social with Demonstrations & Tastings  Featuring Straus Creamery Products Monday, May 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

“We are pleased that The Gourmandise School is choosing Straus Family Creamery organic dairy products in their cooking and baking classes and that they are emphasizing the importance of organic ingredients and sustainable farming practices in their classes,” said Albert Straus, founder and CEO of Straus Family Creamery. “Choosing organic ingredients when cooking not only makes a difference in the quality and taste of the food, but also has a positive impact on the planet.”

Straus Family Creamery produces certified organic dairy products that are Non-GMO Project Verified, certified kosher and gluten-free. The cows, from family farms in western Marin and Sonoma Counties, are never treated with antibiotics or hormones and graze on organic pastures. All Straus Family Creamery products are minimally processed to create the best taste and culinary experience.

“Our shared belief in using organic, sustainable dairy products highlights our common commitment to supporting local food systems,” said Gourmandise Co-Founder & Co-Owner Clémence Gossett. “Our students will be able to experience hands-on how the taste and quality of the meals created is enhanced by using such products as these.”

“The Gourmandise School has always been committed to using only the finest, locally sourced organic ingredients in our classes, workshops and pro series courses whenever possible,” said Sabrina Ironside, Co-Owner & General Manager of The Gourmandise School. “Our partnership with Straus Family Creamery solidifies this commitment and enhances our students’ experience through the use of their incredible products and the significance of the story behind them.”

Straus Family Creamery’s 85% butterfat content exceeds both American and European standards, which is also higher than almost any available. The butter has extremely low moisture, resulting in flakier crusts that rise higher and brown more evenly when baking.

The Gourmandise School invites the community to bring their sweet tooth and experience Straus Family Creamery products during their Open House Ice Cream Social  this Memorial Day, Monday, May 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., filled with demonstrations and tastings. Renowned ice cream maven Shiho Yoshikawa will demonstrate the secrets of making impossibly delicious ice cream at home using the highest quality ingredients.

All year long, The Gourmandise School hosts culinary and food educational events with their community partners including farmers, bakers, chefs and food lovers alike. As a key and integral player to the Grain Movement, The Gourmandise School is also working to propel the momentum of the SLOW Food Movement which supports sustainable farming, locally-sourced food and traditional cooking.
