A Lunar New Year Dish for Longevity and Prosperity

Celebrate Lunar New Year with Chef Maya’s vibrant Long Noodle Stir Fry, inspired by the Chinese tradition of longevity noodles. Served during New Year celebrations and birthdays, one continuous strand of noodle symbolizes a long, prosperous, and unbroken life.
The key is to cook and toss the noodles gently so they stay whole. When it’s time to eat, tradition encourages you to slurp the noodle as long as you can without breaking it. The longer the strand, the longer the life it represents.
This savory stir fry features tender chow mein noodles tossed with sautéed onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, baby bok choy, garlic, soy sauce, and hoisin. A finishing drizzle of toasted sesame oil and sesame seeds adds depth and warmth to every bite.
